Musical Director

Derek Watmough MBE
After studying Classical Languages at Durham, Derek changed course and obtained an Honours Degree in Music. He taught at Skinners School, Tunbridge Wells and Beacon in Crowborough and in 1992 was awarded the MBE for services to music. He now lectures in music, plays the piano with the Sussex Camerata and is in demand as an accompanist. Derek has been the Musical Director for the MSS since 1991.

The Leader

Martin Palmer has led the Sinfonia for 6 years and is much in demand as a freelance musician. He also teaches at Ardingly College. In June 2006 Martin performed Vivaldi's Four Seasons with the MSS Baroque Ensemble.

The Committee

The Mid Sussex Sinfonia is managed by a small committee made up of voluntary supporters at the AGM of the Society. The Committee meets regularly to plan future programmes, the development of the orchestra and any other matters that arise.
